Cult Expert Rick Alan Ross Guests with Erica Lukes

The founder and Executive Director of The Cult Education Institute, Rick Alan Ross, will guest on a special episode of Expanding Frontiers with Erica Lukes. The show will air live on YouTube on Thursday, Sep. 5, 3pm Eastern.


Mr. Ross is an internationally known expert regarding destructive cults and controversial groups. He is author of the book "Cults Inside Out: How People Get In and Can Get Out." Since 1982, Mr. Ross has been studying, researching and responding to the problems often posed by controversial authoritarian movements.


Mr. Ross's commentary has been quoted within publications that include Time Magazine, The New York Times and The Washington Post. His appearances on national television have included a wide range of venues from news programs such as the "Today Show" and "Dateline" to popular interview shows such as "Oprah" and "Inside Edition." Mr. Ross has lectured at such prestigious institutions as the University of Chicago, Carnegie Mellon University, Baylor University, Wuhan University, China, and Assumption University, Thailand, among others.

I watched this program with Dr. Kent live. I think the overall body of his works and efforts are commendable and he is still a force for good in the world. That said, I vehemently disagree that MAGA is not a cult or at very least using cult-like tactics. There are other cult experts that would agree on this. His main point that this movement is a natural outcome of decades of political belief should be tempered with just how these beliefs and ideals were forged over decades awaiting an authoritarian and strongman personality to be the voice. Just because a cult was a natural outcome of planned events over decades of time does not make it any less …
