Jan Harzan was sentenced Friday to serve time in state prison stemming from his conviction on charges he solicited sexual activity online from a law enforcement officer he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. He was reportedly arrested when he arrived at a prearranged spot to meet the child.
According to a case summary obtained from Orange County Superior Court of California, Harzan was sentenced to two years State Prison for a felony count of contacting a minor with the intent to commit a lewd offense. He was also sentenced to 18 months in prison for the felony charge of meeting a minor to commit lewd conduct. It was not immediately clear if the sentences would run concurrently.
From the case summary:
Harzan is the former executive director of the Mutual UFO Network. He is a longtime staple of the organization, which removed him from his position after reports surfaced publicly of his arrest on the charges in 2020.
